LAHORE, June 19: Dr. Ali Gohar, a Postgraduate Resident in the Department of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Lahore General Hospital (LGH), has earned international recognition by securing first prize in the Budding Clinicians category for Best Researcher at the 16th International Biennial Chest Conference.
Principal of the Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI), Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, congratulated Dr. Ali Gohar on his remarkable achievement, describing it as a matter of great pride for both the institution and the country. He said the accomplishment serves as an inspiring example for young doctors and highlights the growing research culture within Pakistan’s medical community.
Prof. Afzal noted that the success reflects the commitment of PGMI, Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), and LGH to promoting high-quality medical education, research excellence, and patient care. He added that the institution’s focus on academic development is yielding tangible results at both national and international levels.
Expressing confidence in Dr. Gohar’s future contributions, Prof. Afzal said he hoped the young researcher would continue to excel in academic and scientific pursuits, further enhancing Pakistan’s reputation in the global medical arena. He also presented Dr. Gohar with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his international achievement.
Dr. Ali Gohar is actively engaged in research related to respiratory diseases and critical care medicine. He has presented scientific papers at numerous national and international conferences and has authored 31 research publications, including two in national journals and 29 in international journals. Of these, 18 publications focus specifically on respiratory diseases and critical care. Seventeen international and one national study have been published in internationally recognized medical journals.
At the conference, Dr. Gohar presented his research before leading national and international experts. His work received high praise from the judging panel for its scientific merit and contribution to the field. The event was attended by a large number of senior clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the country and abroad.
