ISLAMABAD/RIYADH — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a warm and cordial telephone conversation with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this evening, marking a significant diplomatic exchange following the landmark Islamabad Peace Deal.
During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt congratulations to the Crown Prince on the successful conclusion of the historic agreement and expressed deep appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s steadfast and unwavering support throughout Pakistan’s peace efforts. He paid special tribute to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his exceptional wisdom and sagacity in steering the Kingdom’s role during one of the most critical periods in regional diplomacy.
The Prime Minister noted that it was the resolute backing of Saudi Arabia and fellow Gulf states that proved instrumental in bringing about the Iran-US peace agreement within a matter of months — an outcome that has been widely hailed as a breakthrough for regional and global stability.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reciprocated by congratulating Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the monumental achievement, and paid glowing tribute to the extraordinary and tireless efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, crediting his leadership as a decisive factor in the successful conclusion of the peace deal.
The two leaders concurred that the next phase of negotiations between Iran and the United States must be navigated with utmost care, with outstanding issues resolved through sustained dialogue and diplomacy. Both emphasised the critical importance of remaining vigilant against any forces or elements that may seek to derail or undermine the negotiation process.
Turning to bilateral relations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep satisfaction at the excellent state of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia ties and confirmed that both sides are ready to finalise and formally sign a comprehensive economic package, to be concluded under the patronage of the Crown Prince. He also renewed his personal invitation to His Royal Highness to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
Availing himself of the opportunity, the Prime Minister conveyed his respectful regards and warm good wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
