Lahore, Pakistan — Secretary and Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to the preservation of religious heritage sites and the provision of improved, respectful facilities for devotees across Punjab. He made these remarks while reviewing ongoing development projects under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025–26.
During his visit to the Shrine of Hazrat Shah Chirag in Lahore (ADP GS No. 3065, approved cost Rs. 10 million), Dr. Bhutta was informed that removal of old lime plaster on the exterior and restoration of intricate fresco paintings on the interior are currently underway. He emphasized that these initiatives align with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, aiming to protect religious heritage, promote cultural values, and enhance facilities for devotees.
Dr. Bhutta also reviewed development works at Jamia Masjid Usmania, Goal Chowk, Okara (ADP GS No. 3068, approved cost Rs. 10 million), including electrical upgrades, false ceiling installation, mechanical foldable tarpaulin fixing, and preparations for the manager office roof slab shuttering.
Further, he inspected the construction of a Zaireen verandah/Langar Khana, compound wall, and renovation of toilets and ablution areas at the Shrine of Hazrat Shah Safeer, Sohawa, Jhelum (ADP 2025–26, approved cost Rs. 20 million), where excavation, dressing, leveling, and filling works are actively in progress.
Dr. Bhutta directed officers to immediately repair and replace broken doors at the Langar Khana and library of the Shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid (RA), Pakpattan, ensuring safety, functionality, and convenience for devotees.
He reiterated that the Auqaf Department is fully committed to ensuring that religious sites are well-maintained, accessible, and safe, reflecting Punjab’s dedication to preserving cultural and spiritual heritage while providing enhanced facilities for all visitors.
