Quetta:
The Government of Balochistan has established the province’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cell within the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, aiming to further improve law and order and introduce data-driven security decision-making, officials said on Tuesday.
According to an official statement, the initiative marks a significant step toward technology-based governance. The AI Cell will analyze data generated through the Balochistan Integrated Security Architecture (BISA) to help authorities identify crime patterns, assess security threats, and anticipate potential risks in advance.
The statement said the primary objectives of the AI Cell include tracking crime trends, early warning of threats in sensitive areas, and strategic analysis of security developments, enabling the provincial government to take preventive measures before incidents occur.
Officials emphasized that the AI Cell will operate under strict data protection protocols, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive security information while supporting evidence-based and data-driven policymaking.
The Home Department noted that the initiative is part of broader reforms to modernize Balochistan’s security framework by integrating advanced technologies into governance and law enforcement, with the goal of enhancing public safety and institutional efficiency.
Security analysts view the move as a notable development in Pakistan’s provincial security management, particularly in a region facing complex law-and-order challenges.
