LONDON — British Muslims are among the most generous charitable donors in the United Kingdom, giving an estimated $3 billion annually, around four times the national average, according to new research published by the think tank Equi.
The study found that while the majority of donations have traditionally been directed toward international humanitarian causes, there is a growing trend toward increased local giving within the UK.
Equi said the findings highlight significant potential for expanding UK-based charitable initiatives, noting that a substantial portion of Muslim charitable contributions continues to support overseas aid efforts.
The report comes amid broader discussions in Britain about philanthropy, social cohesion and the role of faith-based communities in addressing domestic social challenges.
