LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Labour and Chairman of the Governing Body of the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI), Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt, on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of an upgraded Emergency Block at the Social Security Hospital Shahdara during an official visit.
The minister was accompanied by Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sami Ullah Khan. Commissioner Social Security Zulfiqar Ali Kharl, senior officers from the head office, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, doctors, nurses, and other staff were also present on the occasion.
Speaking to the gathering, the provincial minister said that the Emergency Block is being expanded from eight to 18 beds to provide modern and quality medical facilities to workers under one roof. He, along with the MPA, inspected various departments of the hospital and met patients and their attendants to inquire about the medical services being provided.
On the occasion, three new dialysis machines were also inaugurated at the hospital’s Dialysis Centre. The minister said that the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz is being implemented in a practical manner, adding that the welfare of the labour class is a top priority of the provincial government.
“The labour community is very close to the chief minister’s heart, and ensuring quality healthcare for workers remains the government’s foremost responsibility,” he said.
Muhammad Mansha Ullah Butt added that medical facilities and treatment standards at Social Security hospitals are being continuously upgraded, with special focus on dialysis and other critical healthcare services.
Commissioner Social Security Zulfiqar Ali Kharl said that the upgradation and revamping of Social Security hospitals across the province is underway. He added that steps are being taken to provide modern medical equipment and to enhance human resources in hospitals and other healthcare facilities to improve service delivery.
