LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Thursday ordered a strict crackdown on drug peddling and motorcycle theft while reviewing the performance of the Civil Lines and City divisions during a high-level meeting at his office.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation, crime prevention measures and ongoing policing initiatives. The CCPO expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements made during Christmas and New Year celebrations and directed officers to remain on high alert in view of Kashmir Day.
Emphasizing the need for enhanced coordination, he instructed police officials to strengthen liaison with the Crime Control Department to effectively curb criminal activities across the city. Briefing on the narcotics situation, the CCPO ordered indiscriminate action against drug peddlers, particularly in and around educational institutions.
Taking notice of the increase in motorcycle theft incidents, Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed officers to intensify surveillance of habitual offenders and to take strict legal action against those involved in theft as well as the buying and selling of stolen motorcycles.
The CCPO also ordered action against illegally residing foreign Afghan nationals in accordance with the law and directed that combing operations be continued across Lahore to ensure public safety.
The meeting was attended by DIGs, SSPs, SPs, ASPs, circle officers, SHOs and investigation in-charges of the Civil Lines and City divisions.
