Islamabad: A delegation of World Liberty Financial (WLF) USA, led by Chief Executive Officer Zachary Witkoff, met Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, underscoring growing international interest in Pakistan’s digital finance sector.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal Bin Saqib were also present at the meeting.
Welcoming the delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif outlined his vision for a “Digital Pakistan,” emphasizing enhanced connectivity, transparency, accessibility, and openness for citizens. He said the rapid expansion of digital payments and financial innovation is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s evolving digital economy.
The prime minister expressed satisfaction over increasing global engagement with Pakistan’s digital financial markets, noting that the country is steadily integrating into the global digital finance ecosystem.
Witkoff conveyed strong interest in collaborating with Pakistan to develop secure and transparent digital payment infrastructure, including innovations in cross-border settlements and foreign exchange processes. He praised Pakistan’s policy framework, describing it as a key factor in positioning the country as a competitive player in global digital finance. He also expressed a desire to deepen engagement on next-generation digital payment solutions.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Pakistan and SC Financial Technologies LLC, an affiliated entity of World Liberty Financial. The MoU aims to facilitate structured dialogue and technical cooperation on emerging digital payment architectures for cross-border transactions.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Zachary Witkoff signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
