ISLAMABAD (Staff Reporter) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lieutenant General (Retd) Nazir Ahmad at the Prime Minister House, where the NAB annual report for 2025 was presented. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting.
Chairman NAB briefed the Prime Minister that NAB achieved a record recovery of Rs 6.213 trillion during the past year. He further informed that 2.98 million acres of state and forest land were retrieved, valued at approximately Rs 5.99 trillion.
The NAB Chairman also mentioned the return of Rs 180 billion to 115,587 victims of fake and fraudulent housing and investment schemes, describing it as a national service that restored public confidence.
The Prime Minister reviewed NAB’s performance and appreciated the institution’s transformation into a technology-driven organization. He praised the integration of modern technologies including AI-assisted investigations and the e-office framework, which aligns with the government’s broader objectives of transparency and efficiency.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting NAB’s professional independence and its mission to protect national resources. Chairman NAB stated that the “Khuli Kachehri” and “Central Complaint Cell” have successfully bridged the gap between the state and its citizens, ensuring that the bureau serves as a means of grievance redressal rather than intimidation.
