Islamabad (voice of Germany) — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for his first-ever two-day official state visit, marking a significant milestone in bilateral relations between the two countries.
He was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, members of the federal cabinet, and senior officials were also present to welcome the distinguished guest.
Upon disembarking from the aircraft, President Tokayev exchanged warm handshakes with President Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif. Children dressed in traditional attire presented bouquets of flowers, while others holding the flags of both nations greeted the Kazakh leader. President Tokayev responded by waving to the children.
A 21-gun salute was also fired in his honor.
During the visit, President Tokayev will hold important meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He is also scheduled to address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.
The visit provides a valuable opportunity for both nations to conduct a comprehensive review of bilateral ties, explore new avenues of cooperation — particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and collaboration on regional and international platforms.
Experts believe this high-level engagement could significantly strengthen economic and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, while enhancing Pakistan’s connectivity with Central Asia.
