Lahore (Muhammad Shahzad – Pakistan) — The Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122) responded to 1,371 road traffic crashes (RTCs) across all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these incidents, 14 people lost their lives while 1,574 were injured. Of the injured, 650 seriously injured victims were shifted to various hospitals, while 924 victims with minor injuries were treated at the scene by Rescue medical teams, significantly reducing the burden on hospitals.
75% of the crashes involved motorbikes, underscoring the urgent need for strict enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline.
Victims included 909 drivers, 58 underage drivers, 203 pedestrians, and 476 passengers.
Lahore recorded the highest number of crashes — 266 incidents affecting 323 people — followed by Multan (97 crashes, 101 victims) and Faisalabad (86 crashes, 100 victims).
