Gaza City — Palestinian physician Dr. Intisar Shamlakh al-Rubaie has been killed by Israeli military gunfire in Gaza City.
According to reports from Palestinian media and local sources, the incident occurred in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, eastern Gaza City, near the Al-Shawa area. Israeli military vehicles reportedly opened fire in the vicinity, resulting in her death.
Dr. Intisar was the wife of Dr. Ahmad al-Rubaie, head of the Pulmonology Department at Al-Shifa Hospital. She was widely respected as a dedicated and humanitarian doctor who tirelessly treated the wounded and patients throughout the ongoing crisis.
Her killing leaves Dr. Ahmad to mourn her loss alone.
This tragic death highlights once again the extreme vulnerability of medical personnel and civilians in Gaza — even inside or near their homes, far from any active combat zone.
The incident has been confirmed by Gaza-based medical sources, including Dr. Fadel Naim.
The event is part of a broader pattern of attacks and casualties among Gaza’s healthcare workers, with hundreds of doctors, nurses, and paramedics already killed or injured since the escalation began.
