ISLAMABAD, February 4, 2026 — President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was given a warm and ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the Prime Minister House today.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif personally received the distinguished guest. The two leaders exchanged warm handshakes and cordial greetings.
A formal reception ceremony was held in honour of the visiting President, during which a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces presented a Guard of Honour. President Tokayev inspected the guard. National anthems of both countries were played on the occasion.
The Kazakh President introduced members of his delegation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while the Prime Minister introduced members of his cabinet to the visiting dignitary.
President Tokayev also planted a tree in the premises of the Prime Minister House.
This is the first state visit by a Kazakh President to Pakistan in 23 years. During the visit (3-4 February), President Tokayev will hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He is also scheduled to address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.
The visit provides an important opportunity to comprehensively review bilateral ties and explore new avenues of cooperation, particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people contacts, and coordination on regional and international platforms.
The visit has culminated in the establishment of a Strategic Partnership between the two countries, with multiple agreements and MoUs expected to be signed.
The engagement reflects the strong historical, cultural and religious affinities between Pakistan and Kazakhstan and underscores their shared commitment to transforming these ties into practical cooperation for peace, stability and development in the region.
