ISLAMABAD, February 4, 2026 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the Federal Cabinet in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to completely eradicate terrorism from the country with the full support of all provinces, relevant institutions, and the people of Pakistan.
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the Prime Minister conveyed a message of complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people on behalf of the Government of Pakistan and the entire nation.
The meeting began with Fateha Khawani for the departed soul of the father of President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry and for the martyrs — civilians, security forces personnel, and law enforcement officials — who lost their lives in recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
Referring to his recent meeting with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister emphasized that mutual cooperation and harmony between the federation and the provinces remain essential for national progress and prosperity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif informed the cabinet that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided not to play a bilateral match against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup as a gesture of solidarity with Pakistan.
The Prime Minister also briefed the cabinet on Pakistan’s strong diplomatic relations with brotherly countries, particularly highlighting the recent state visit of the President of Kazakhstan and the forthcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan.
Key Approvals
The Cabinet accorded in-principle approval to the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) in its meeting held on 3 February 2026.
Approval was granted to the decisions of the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) taken on 9 January 2026.
In-principle approval was also given to the decisions of the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases (CCLC) from its meeting on 29 January 2026.
The Prime Minister issued special instructions that heads of all government institutions must ensure complete and accurate facts are presented in summaries and that authorized officers personally attend meetings of the Cabinet and its sub-committees.
