LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Transport Company (PTC) has released performance statistics for the first 15 days of its Green Bus Service, reporting high ridership and increased public usage across multiple districts.
According to PTC Chief Executive Officer Kausar Khan, more than six million passengers used the Green Bus Service during the past two weeks, reflecting what officials described as a strong public response to the initiative.
The data shows that over one million women utilized the service, while more than 321,000 students and over 150,000 senior citizens availed free travel facilities. Additionally, approximately 107,000 persons with disabilities used the transport system during the reporting period.
The Green Bus Service, which includes modern electric buses, is currently operational in 15 districts of Punjab, providing public transport aimed at improving urban mobility and reducing environmental impact.
Khan said the initiative forms part of the provincial government’s broader Transport Vision 2030, which seeks to expand safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable transport options across the province.
Officials maintain that promoting electric and eco-friendly transport will contribute to lowering emissions and addressing urban air pollution challenges in Punjab.
