ISLAMABAD: The government has announced a significant increase in petroleum product prices. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, petrol prices have been increased by Rs5 per litre, while diesel has been made more expensive by Rs7.32 per litre.
The new prices will come into effect from midnight tonight. Government sources indicate that this decision has been made due to rising crude oil prices in the international market and the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee.
The increase in petroleum product prices is expected to place an additional economic burden on the public. Economic experts say that this hike will increase transportation costs, which will subsequently impact the prices of daily use commodities.
The notification has been officially issued and fuel stations across the country have been directed to implement the revised rates immediately.
