LAHORE: Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government has released Rs20 billion to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of home construction under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program. The initiative aims to provide deserving families with their own homes, reinforcing the government’s commitment to housing for all.
According to the spokesperson, over 121,000 families have already been provided interest-free loans, and an additional 26,000 families will be able to receive installment payments immediately. Currently, more than 43,000 houses are under construction across the province, reflecting the scale and pace of the program.
So far, over Rs172 billion has been spent on house construction under the program, with more than Rs6 billion successfully recovered. Additionally, over 112,000 families have received the second installment to complete their homes.
The government has set a target of constructing 500,000 houses over the next five years, to be achieved in phased implementation. The spokesperson emphasized that a large number of deserving families are benefiting from the program, which maintains a simple, transparent, and merit-based loan disbursement process.
The spokesperson added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision is transforming lives, with the program contributing significantly to social and economic stability in the province.
