LAHORE: Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin chaired the 106th meeting of the PHATA Governing Body, where a 27-point agenda was discussed and the minutes of the previous two meetings were approved.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the Chief Minister Punjab’s flagship programs: “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” and “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar.” The interest-free loan program for deserving families, launched under the Chief Minister’s initiative, is now receiving international recognition.
Minister Bilal Yasin said the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program will be presented as a successful model at the World Urban Forum in May. Participants were also briefed about the expected outcomes of the upcoming international conference on affordable housing in Baku later this month.
The Governing Body approved regulations regarding PHATA’s joint projects and rehabilitation schemes for Khanewal, Burewala, Gujar Khan, Layyah, Vehari, Farooqabad, and Yazman. Updates were also shared on the Affordable Housing Project, implemented in collaboration with the World Bank.
Bilal Yasin directed officials to accelerate the implementation of affordable housing projects and submit recommendations. He also instructed authorities to speed up construction of houses for low-income families on government land.
The minister praised the PHATA team for the success of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program, noting that its international recognition is a matter of pride for Punjab and Pakistan. He reiterated that welfare projects for poor and deserving families remain a top priority for the Chief Minister, and highlighted that for the first time in Punjab’s history, houses are being constructed for such a large number of deserving individuals.
