UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has delivered a powerful and inspiring message about life, leadership, and perseverance, saying that life is full of challenges and every hardship teaches a person something valuable, ultimately making them stronger.
In an interview, Sheikh Mohammed said he deliberately prefers the word “challenge” over “crisis”, explaining that the people of the Arab world have always faced hardships throughout history and have emerged from every trial with greater resilience and determination.
Speaking about life in the Arabian Peninsula, he noted that every single day brings a new challenge — whether it is the scarcity of water, the shortage of food, or other trials — but it is precisely through these difficulties that human beings grow, learn, and become more capable.
The Dubai ruler shared a particularly profound thought on the nature of leadership: “When there are no challenges, everyone considers themselves a leader. True leadership reveals itself when the circumstances are difficult.”
Sheikh Mohammed also emphasized that the struggle with challenges is not unique to any single nation — people across the entire world face different kinds of hardships every day. He stressed that learning never stops, saying: “We learn something new every single day.”
His message comes at a time when the Middle East is navigating a period of immense regional tension and global uncertainty, making his words of resilience and forward-looking leadership particularly relevant and timely.
