LAHORE: Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, Governor of Punjab, has said that the people of Pakistan are deeply concerned about the ongoing war situation in the Middle East and stressed that the conflict should come to an end soon.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Stetson Sanders at the Governor House Lahore.
The Governor said the current tensions have negatively affected not only the Middle East but also the global economy. “The ongoing war in the Middle East should end soon, as it is causing instability and economic setbacks worldwide,” he said.
During the meeting, the Governor highlighted Pakistan’s desire to strengthen cooperation with the United States, particularly in the sectors of education and agriculture. He expressed hope that collaboration between the two countries would expand further in these fields.
Stetson Sanders thanked the Governor and the provincial government on behalf of the US government for their continuous support in ensuring the security and protection of the United States Consulate General Lahore and its staff.
Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan noted that the decades-long relations between Pakistan and the United States are built on strong foundations. He emphasized the need to enhance people-to-people contacts and increase exchanges of educational delegations between the two countries.
He further stated that the United States remains Pakistan’s largest trading partner and that expanding bilateral trade in agriculture and information technology could open new avenues for cooperation.
The Governor also welcomed American support in modernizing the agricultural sector in Punjab, saying that such cooperation would contribute to the province’s economic growth and development.
