LAHORE: In light of the evolving situation along the western border, Punjab Police have intensified and expanded intelligence-based and combing operations across the province, including Lahore, to ensure heightened security and public safety.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, a total of 9,784 operations were conducted over the past two weeks. During these कार्रवाइیاں, 2,171 suspected and criminal individuals were taken into custody.
The police carried out 650 intelligence-based operations (IBOs), during which 12,711 individuals were interrogated, leading to the arrest of 576 افراد involved in criminal or suspicious activities. Authorities also recovered over 2.5 kilograms of explosive material, 12 detonators, four Kalashnikovs, and 37 feet of safety fuse wire from alleged miscreants and anti-state elements.
In addition, 9,134 combing operations were conducted across Punjab, with more than 309,000 individuals checked. These operations resulted in the detention of 1,595 suspects. Law enforcement agencies also seized five Kalashnikovs, 23 rifles, 187 pistols, nine guns, and a large cache of ammunition from criminal عناصر.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, stated that intelligence-based and combing operations will continue without interruption to bring anti-state and criminal elements to justice. He further directed officers to enhance door-to-door checking procedures to effectively counter terrorist threats.
The IG emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to maintain law and order, reiterating that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Punjab Police.
