Marvi Khurshid Malik, daughter of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Vice President and Senator Sherry Rehman, has passed away, the family announced. (The Nation)
Marvi Malik passed away after suffering a brain haemorrhage. She had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Karachi, where she was admitted five days ago. Her condition deteriorated three days before her death, requiring ventilation. She was unmarried and the only daughter of her parents.
The news prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders, party members, and well-wishers across the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari extended his condolences, praying for her forgiveness and for the family to bear the loss with strength. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the death of a child as an “indescribable grief,” offering heartfelt condolences. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep sorrow and prayed for her high place in Jannatul Firdous.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, and KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also conveyed their grief. PPP leader Shazia Marri called the loss “irreparable,” saying the news left her deeply saddened and in shock.
Funeral prayers for Marvi Khurshid Malik are scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2026, at 3:30 PM in DHA Phase 8, Karachi, followed by burial in a local cemetery.
