According to Abu Dhabi officials, the UAE’s air defence system successfully intercepted and destroyed the incoming ballistic missile. However, falling debris from the destroyed projectile struck the Suwajan district, resulting in two fatalities and three injuries. Several vehicles in the area were also reported damaged.
Emergency services have responded to the scene, and the wounded are receiving medical treatment. Authorities have urged residents in affected areas to remain calm and follow official guidance.
The incident underscores the continued threat posed to the UAE amid regional tensions, and highlights both the effectiveness and the limitations of missile defence systems in protecting civilian populations.
