The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister have signalled that the party will formally adopt the protest route to secure the release of PTI founder Imran Khan, with major decisions expected imminently.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, PTI leader Sohail Afridi urged party workers and supporters to exercise patience, stating that the leadership is on the verge of making decisions that could be of a serious and far-reaching nature. He made clear that whatever course of action is chosen by those at the helm, the party’s rank and file will stand firmly behind it.
“Workers should wait — decisions are about to be made that may be tough ones. Whatever the leadership decides, we will support it with full force.”
— Sohail Afridi, PTI Leader
Sources indicate that serious deliberations are underway within the party’s inner circle regarding the launch of a nationwide protest movement. The KP Chief Minister’s public endorsement of the protest option is being viewed as a significant shift in the party’s political strategy.
Political analysts warn that direct involvement of a sitting provincial government in street agitation could sharply escalate tensions between the PTI and the federal government. The announcement has already sparked renewed energy among PTI workers across the country.
The development comes amid PTI’s ongoing legal battles for Imran Khan’s release, with the party having previously held large-scale protests that drew massive public participation.
