WASHINGTON D.C. — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the United States, has called on Congress to convene an emergency session and hold an immediate vote to prevent a potential military conflict with Iran.
CAIR condemned recent statements by President Donald Trump as “dangerous” and “deeply insulting to Islam,” particularly after Trump combined military threats with religious language in his public remarks.
The organization argued that under the U.S. Constitution, Congress holds the exclusive authority to declare war, and that lawmakers must not allow unchecked executive power to push the nation into another devastating conflict in the Middle East.
CAIR also urged American Muslims and all peace-loving citizens to contact their elected representatives and demand a halt to any escalation toward war with Iran.
“No president should be allowed to drag this country into war — especially by invoking religion to justify military aggression,” a CAIR spokesperson stated.
