LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Housing & Urban Development Bilal Yasin met with Director General Sikandar Zeeshan to review the progress of the Chief Minister Punjab’s flagship housing initiative, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar.”
During the meeting, officials provided a detailed briefing on the program, highlighting that interest-free loans totaling Rs. 188 billion have been disbursed to enable deserving families across Punjab to construct their own homes.
According to the update, more than 87,000 houses have been completed, while 45,000 homes remain under construction. A total of 133,990 families have benefited from these loans, with approximately 18,000 additional families expected to receive assistance soon. Beneficiaries have already repaid Rs. 9.67 billion in monthly installments, demonstrating effective fund utilization.
Minister Bilal Yasin emphasized the government’s commitment to providing every deserving family with a safe and dignified home. “Enabling low-income individuals to build houses with dignity remains a top priority,” he said.
He added that under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the program gives special preference to women, orphans, and vulnerable segments of society. Linking loan disbursements to phased construction, he noted, ensures proper utilization of funds and has been a key factor in the program’s success.
