Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, declaring him a total failure on both political and strategic fronts, stating that Netanyahu had not achieved a single one of the objectives he had set for himself.
“This is the worst political catastrophe in Israel’s entire history,” Lapid said, accusing Netanyahu of inflicting deep and lasting damage on the country’s political standing and strategic position. “It will take years to repair what has been done,” he added.
In perhaps his most pointed criticism, Lapid highlighted that Israel was absent from the negotiating table when critical decisions about its own national security were being made — a damning indictment of Netanyahu’s diplomatic handling of the conflict.
The remarks reflect growing domestic frustration within Israel over the government’s management of the war and its aftermath. Lapid’s broadside is expected to intensify pressure on Netanyahu at a time when Israel finds itself navigating a complex post-war landscape with its regional alliances and international standing under serious scrutiny.
