LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain held a meeting with a high-level Chinese investor delegation from the electric vehicle (EV) sector, representing the Sun Suki Group, to discuss potential investment opportunities in Punjab.
The delegation was led by CEO Mr. Li, who expressed strong interest in investing in the province’s growing EV industry. He said the group plans to establish lithium battery manufacturing facilities along with assembly plants for electric bikes and electric rickshaws in Punjab.
During the meeting, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain highlighted the vast investment potential in Punjab, particularly within Special Economic Zones (SEZs). He noted that investors are being offered attractive incentives, including a 10-year income tax exemption and one-time duty-free import of machinery.
The minister emphasized that several Chinese companies are already operating in Punjab across multiple sectors and termed the current period as highly favorable for investment in the EV industry. “Promotion of the EV sector is among the government’s top priorities,” he stated, assuring full facilitation and support to the visiting delegation.
He further shared that he has visited China three times over the past year, holding productive discussions with leading investors. He added that implementation on several agreements signed during those visits is already underway, with multiple Chinese firms either operational or in the process of setting up industrial units in the province.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain assured the delegation that their investments would be fully protected and encouraged the Sun Suki Group to move forward with confidence.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials, including representatives from the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, Special Secretary Industries, and members of the business community.
