Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasised that war serves no one’s interests and urged the use of every rational and diplomatic path to de-escalate current tensions with the United States.
Speaking during a visit to the Ministry of Justice on Monday, President Pezeshkian stated: “War benefits no one, and while standing firm against threats, every rational and diplomatic path should be used to reduce tensions.” He added that distrust of adversaries and vigilance in interactions remain essential necessities.
The Iranian president also stressed the importance of transparency with the public. He said it is necessary to keep the Iranian people informed about the country’s real situation, warning that providing inaccurate information or making unrealistic promises not only fails to solve problems but also damages public trust.
“Both achievements and challenges should be presented to the people with honesty so that trust can be maintained and effective solutions to issues become possible,” Pezeshkian added.
His remarks come amid heightened tensions following the US seizure of the Iranian cargo ship MV Touska in the Gulf of Oman, which has cast doubt over the upcoming round of indirect talks in Islamabad and the future of the fragile two-week ceasefire.
