LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of appeal pleas filed by leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against their convictions in cases related to the May 9 incidents, without any proceedings.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Shehbaz Rizvi took up the appeals, including those filed by Dr Yasmin Rashid and Ejaz Chaudhry. However, the bench adjourned the hearing without proceeding further.
The court had also fixed for hearing petitions seeking suspension of sentences for Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Afzal Azeem and others.
In addition, a government appeal against the acquittal of former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was also scheduled for hearing.
It is pertinent to mention that several accused had earlier been sentenced to 10 years each in cases related to the May 9 incidents, involving allegations of siege and arson.
