LAHORE: The Emergency Services Department Punjab responded to 1,446 road traffic crashes across all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours, resulting in 11 fatalities and 1,659 injuries.
According to official data, 692 critically injured victims were shifted to various hospitals, while 908 people with minor injuries were treated on the spot by rescue medical teams, helping reduce the burden on healthcare facilities.
The report highlighted that nearly 80 percent of the accidents involved motorbikes, underlining the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and better lane discipline.
The breakdown of victims shows that 966 drivers, 74 underage drivers, 188 pedestrians, and 516 passengers were affected in these incidents.
District-wise, Lahore recorded the highest number of accidents, with 280 crashes affecting 341 individuals. It was followed by Faisalabad with 114 accidents and 130 victims, and Multan with 88 crashes injuring 89 people.
Further analysis revealed that a total of 1,670 victims were involved, including 1,324 males and 346 females. Among them, 306 were under the age of 18, 887 were between 18 and 40 years, while 477 victims were above 40 years of age.
The data also showed that 1,575 motorbikes, 95 auto-rickshaws, 176 motorcars, 22 vans, 12 passenger buses, 36 trucks, and 68 other types of vehicles, including slow-moving carts, were involved in these accidents.
