LAHORE: The Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) and Chinese company Dongjin Power Tech Pvt Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a dry battery manufacturing plant in Punjab with an initial investment of $15 million.
The agreement was signed by PBIT Chief Executive Officer Zeeshan Shabbir Rana and Dongjin Power Tech CEO Hu Ge, marking a significant step towards enhancing industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China.
Under the agreement, Dongjin Power Tech will set up a state-of-the-art dry battery manufacturing facility within a Special Economic Zone. The project aims to strengthen local industry, create employment opportunities, and reduce reliance on imported batteries.
PBIT has pledged full facilitation to the Chinese investor, ensuring smooth execution of the project from initiation to completion.
Officials described the partnership as a key development in positioning Punjab as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment, particularly in high-value manufacturing and sustainable industrial growth.
