Gilgit-Baltistan, May 2, 2026 — The Election Commission has disqualified JUI candidate Samreen Nagar from contesting the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan elections on grounds of not meeting the minimum age requirement.
The Election Commission rejected the nomination papers of Samreen Nagar, a candidate of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), after scrutiny revealed she does not fulfil the legally required minimum age to contest elections. Samreen had submitted her nomination papers for Constituency No. 4, Nagar.
The disqualification comes during the ongoing scrutiny phase ahead of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, with the commission reaffirming its commitment to ensuring all candidates meet the constitutional eligibility criteria.
