LAHORE: President of the National Women Journalists Forum, Farzana Chaudhry, in her message on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, stated that free, impartial, and responsible journalism is the soul of any democratic society and a true reflection of public opinion.
She said that unbiased journalism paves the way for reform, justice, and accountability in society. “The primary duty of journalism is to convey facts to the public without fear or favor,” she added.
Farzana Chaudhry expressed concern that journalists today are facing increasing pressure, threats, and economic challenges, which are adversely affecting freedom of expression.
She particularly highlighted that women journalists face dual challenges in the field and emphasized that concrete and effective measures are essential to address these issues.
