LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem has directed police officers to ensure the effective use of modern technology to strengthen crime control mechanisms and improve public service delivery across the province.
The direction came during a meeting with a delegation of 35 newly recruited Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from Balochistan Police, who are currently attending the third specialized training course. The trainee officers visited the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore and called on the IG Punjab.
During the interaction, the officers appreciated the performance of Punjab Police in areas including crime control, smart policing, infrastructure development, and citizen-focused service delivery. IG Punjab also inquired about their training progress and field experiences.
Abdul Kareem stated that under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Police is being modernized in line with contemporary policing standards. He added that inter-provincial cooperation is being strengthened through advanced training programs for officers from Balochistan, Sindh, and other regions.
He emphasized that effective policing requires both field experience and strong administrative skills, noting that exposure to office management is essential for professional development.
The IG Punjab directed the trainee DSPs to complete their training with dedication and commitment, and to focus on improving crime control and public service delivery through the use of modern technological tools. He also addressed their queries and provided detailed guidance on policing practices.
The visiting officers briefed the IG about their learning experiences during field training. At the conclusion of the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged between IG Punjab and the delegation.
Later, the delegation visited the Police Museum, Martyrs’ Wall, and various operational branches at the CPO, where they were briefed on key departments including law and order, crime control, operations, investigation, traffic management, and public service delivery.
Additional IG Welfare & Finance Imran Arshad, Additional IG Training Asim Gulzar, and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
