LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, has reaffirmed his commitment to providing the best possible medical care for special children of police employees, releasing over PKR 88.9 million during the current year for children of officers serving across Lahore and districts throughout Punjab.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, 721 children suffering from Cerebral Palsy received PKR 64.2 million at PKR 20,000 per child per month, while 171 children battling Thalassemia were provided PKR 15.3 million at PKR 30,000 monthly.
Further, 38 children with various serious illnesses received PKR 6.2 million. Six children undergoing cancer and bone marrow transplant treatment received PKR 1.06 million. Five children with heart and kidney diseases received PKR 1.19 million, while 13 children with hearing impairments were provided PKR 872,000.
IGP Abdul Kareem stated that under Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed with renowned hospitals, treatment is also being made available at discounted rates for police employees’ children. He pledged that welfare initiatives for special children would continue to ensure they live with dignity and ease.
