LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has intensified enforcement actions against businesses involved in sales tax non-compliance and those operating without registration across the province.
According to a PRA spokesperson, Enforcement Officers carried out operations in various cities, during which heavy fines were imposed on multiple business outlets while notices were issued to several violators.
The action was taken against businesses on charges including non-registration for sales tax, failure to provide official records and issuance of fake invoices. Several defaulters were directed through notices to immediately complete their sales tax registration and clear outstanding tax liabilities.
The spokesperson said Chairman PRA has instructed officers to further accelerate enforcement operations across Punjab and ensure indiscriminate action against tax evaders.
The authority added that continuous monitoring and data verification of different sectors is also underway to expand the tax net and improve compliance in the province.
PRA has also urged the public to lodge online complaints against food outlets and service sector businesses that fail to issue proper receipts or invoices.
