LAHORE: On the directives of Muhammad Ali Waseem, crackdowns were carried out in Lahore and Faisalabad against individuals allegedly involved in sexually and financially harassing women, blackmailing them and spreading explicit content online. Two suspects were arrested in separate operations.
According to the spokesperson, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency Lahore arrested suspect Haziq Mahmood from Sabzazar Scheme following a complaint filed by a woman resident of Gulshan-e-Ravi. The operation was conducted by SHO Najam Bajwa. A case was registered under Sections 20 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016.
The complainant alleged that the suspect had been blackmailing her and her family by threatening to share personal and objectionable material on social media platforms. During the raid, officials recovered two mobile phones, screenshots of alleged Instagram and WhatsApp messages and photographs of the victim.
Meanwhile, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency Faisalabad arrested suspect Zeeshan Nawaz during an operation near Narwala Chowk. Officials said the raid was conducted by SHO Amir Sultan.
According to investigators, the suspect obtained the victim’s TikTok account on the pretext of helping her generate online income. He later gained access to her personal information and allegedly attempted to sexually harass and blackmail her while demanding Rs200,000 in extortion money.
Authorities further alleged that the suspect created a fake TikTok account under the name “Mahi Khan” and uploaded objectionable content related to the victim.
NCCIA officials stated that indiscriminate action against individuals involved in online harassment and blackmail of women would continue, while further investigations into both cases are underway.
