Employment opportunities for local residents in factories must be ensured: Law Minister

LAHORE: An important meeting regarding issues related to District Kasur, Phool Nagar, and Kot Radha Kishan was held under the chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan. The meeting featured detailed discussions on social security, workers’ rights, job protection, and environmental concerns.
During the meeting, various proposals were reviewed regarding the provision of social security facilities to workers employed in industrial areas, protection of their jobs, and resolution of issues faced by factory workers. The Provincial Law Minister directed the concerned departments to ensure employment opportunities for local residents in factories while safeguarding their rights.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan stated that the Government of Punjab is taking practical measures to ensure workers’ welfare, secure employment, and improve working conditions. He instructed the Social Security and Labour Departments to ensure maximum facilities for workers and adopt an effective strategy for the prompt resolution of their issues.
Environmental concerns faced by local communities, including pollution caused by factories and its impacts, were also discussed in detail during the meeting. The Provincial Minister directed the relevant authorities to strictly enforce environmental laws in industrial areas to ensure a clean and safe environment for the public.
He further directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination for the protection of workers’ rights, industrial harmony, and the resolution of issues faced by local communities, while regularly updating progress made in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Rana Shahzad, Barrister Afzaal Ahmad Lali, Director Social Security Kasur Ahmed Sher, Deputy Director Social Security Rana Waseem Ahmed, Deputy Director Labour Ishaq Haider, Deputy Director Social Security Phool Nagar Nazia Ghulam, and other relevant officials.
