Karachi — Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler and former captain Wasim Akram has opened up about his Hajj experience this year, saying the pilgrimage itself was not difficult — but the constant requests for selfies from fans left him exhausted.
Akram performed Hajj alongside former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq and TV presenter Fakhar Alam. In a video shared on his Instagram, he was asked about challenges faced during Hajj as a diabetic patient.
He said he carried frozen insulin that lasts up to 24 hours, adding: “I don’t think Hajj was difficult — you come here to worship. Every Muslim must perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime.”
He added with a smile: “The photos tired me out more, I’m sorry — I love everyone. After prayers in Mina, seven people were already waiting for photos. It was a wonderful experience and I prayed for everyone.”
Akram’s candid remarks resonated widely on social media, drawing appreciation from fans for his humility and devotion despite managing a chronic health condition during one of Islam’s most physically demanding rituals.
