DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that the annual midday outdoor work ban will come into effect on June 15, 2026, and will remain in force until September 15.
Under the directive, all outdoor work under direct sunlight or in open-air spaces is prohibited between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM daily. Employers found violating the ban face fines of up to AED 50,000.
The measure is aimed at protecting labourers and workers from the extreme heat conditions that prevail during the UAE’s summer months, when temperatures frequently soar above 45°C (113°F), posing serious risks of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The UAE has enforced this seasonal ban annually for over a decade, reflecting the country’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of its large workforce, which includes millions of outdoor and construction workers. Authorities have urged all employers to strictly comply with the regulation and ensure adequate rest, shade, and hydration for their employees during working hours.
