Tensions in the Middle East have reached a critical flashpoint as Israel and Iran engaged in direct missile exchanges, marking one of the most serious escalations between the two regional rivals in recent history.
Iran launched what it described as “warning strikes” on Israeli territory following Israeli military operations targeting Beirut. In response, Israel struck multiple locations deep inside Iranian territory, including the capital Tehran, the cities of Tabriz and Isfahan, and a major petrochemical plant in Mahshahr.
Iran subsequently launched a second wave of strikes on Israel, further intensifying the conflict.
The European Union has urgently called for immediate ceasefire negotiations, warning of catastrophic consequences if the situation is not contained.
World leaders are closely monitoring the rapidly deteriorating situation. Oil markets reacted sharply, with crude prices spiking amid fears of a broader regional conflict.
