LAHORE: Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab Fazal ur Rehman chaired an important meeting at Punjab Stadium on Friday to review the development of a modern Athlete Databank Portal aimed at identifying and promoting sports talent across the province.
During the meeting, a team from the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) presented a detailed briefing on the portal’s features and implementation plan. Additional Secretary Sports Shabbir Hussain Cheema and Director Admin Abid Shaukat attended the meeting in person, while Director Youth Affairs M. Fahad and PITB officials joined via video link.
Speaking on the occasion, Fazal ur Rehman said that the Punjab Rising Star Portal is an innovative digital platform that will enable athletes from across Punjab to register themselves and showcase their sporting achievements online.
“The title of the Punjab Rising Star Portal will be ‘Who Will Be the Next Champion of Punjab,’ and the portal will be opened for athletes in the near future,” he said.
He added that the portal will also provide comprehensive information about sports facilities available in cities across Punjab, making it easier for athletes and sports enthusiasts to access relevant resources and opportunities.
According to Fazal ur Rehman, the platform will help identify emerging talent and generate valuable data on participation trends in different sports throughout the province.
He said the portal would play a significant role in the promotion and development of sports by bringing new talent to the forefront and helping policymakers better understand which sports are attracting the greatest interest among young athletes.
