Lahore: 10-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped and Murdered at Private Tuition Center; Several Detained

LAHORE — A 10-year-old girl, identified as Naeema Bibi, was allegedly raped and murdered at a private, home-based tuition center in the Achhra area of Lahore. Her body was found in a ground-floor washroom of the building.
According to police, the girl had gone to the center for her regular tuition classes. Lessons were being conducted on the second floor of the three-storey house by women of the household. The child went downstairs to use the washroom and, when she failed to return after ten minutes, her teacher went to check on her and found her unconscious inside. Neighbours gathered after the teacher raised an alarm; attempts to revive her failed, and she was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
SP Model Town Asad Ali, present at the scene, said legal proceedings were underway and further facts would emerge during the investigation. Police said marks were found on the girl’s neck, indicating strangulation. Her body has been shifted to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
Police have taken the owner of the house, Abdul Rauf, along with several others into custody for questioning. It has emerged that Abdul Rauf’s two daughters run the tuition center, which is attended by around 20 children.
