LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has achieved a major breakthrough against drug trafficking networks by seizing narcotics, sophisticated weapons, and drone equipment worth approximately Rs. 22 million during intelligence-based operations in Lahore. Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force, the operations were carried out in the Dhyal area of Wahga Tehsil. During the first raid, CNF teams arrested two alleged drug dealers and recovered 29 kilograms of narcotics, including 19 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice) and 10 kilograms of heroin. A 9mm pistol, a drone, drone batteries, and a drone controller were also seized.
Based on information obtained during the initial investigation, CNF teams conducted a second raid at another location, where they recovered an additional drone, 11 drone controllers, 12 drone batteries, a drone camera, a drone bunker, chargers, power adapters, and a large cache of weapons.
The recovered weapons included a 12-bore pump-action shotgun, a submachine gun (SMG), two .30-bore pistols, multiple magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
The CNF spokesperson said the total estimated value of the seized narcotics, weapons, drones, and related equipment is around Rs. 22 million. Further investigations are underway to identify and dismantle the wider criminal network and arrest other suspects and facilitators allegedly linked to the operation.
Reaffirming the department’s commitment, the spokesperson said that, in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, intelligence-based operations against drug traffickers, smugglers, and their facilitators will continue across the province as part of the government’s vision of a “Drug-Free, Safe Punjab.”
