LAHORE: Kashmir Martyrs’ Day was observed with solemnity and respect under the auspices of the Kashmir Centre Lahore. A special prayer ceremony was held at Masjid Dar-ul-Salaam, Jinnah Bagh, to pay tribute to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, whose sacrifices are widely regarded by participants as a defining moment in the Kashmir movement.
The ceremony was addressed by All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Engineer Mushtaq Mahmood, Mahaz Raishamri leader Aftab Nazki, renowned religious scholar Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haideri, Kashmir Centre In-charge Aam-ul-Hassan, Mirza Nisar Beg, and other speakers.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers said that the events of July 13, 1931, marked the beginning of the Kashmir freedom movement, when 23 Kashmiris were killed during protests. They described the incident as a historic turning point that strengthened resistance against Dogra rule and eventually contributed to political changes in the region.
The speakers further stated that the people of Kashmir continue to endure hardships and remain committed to their political aspirations despite decades of conflict. They expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for what they described as the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer led by Allama Fida-ur-Rehman Haideri for the departed souls of the martyrs, peace, and the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
