LAHORE — The Punjab government has decided to present a tax-free budget for the upcoming fiscal year, sources confirmed on Monday. No new taxes will be imposed on the general public, as the provincial administration moves to ease the financial burden on ordinary citizens.
According to sources, subsidy programmes for farmers, students, and labourers will continue uninterrupted. The agriculture sector will benefit from ongoing subsidies on seeds, fertilisers, and irrigation, while student scholarships and labour relief funds will also be maintained.
The budget is expected to prioritise social protection and infrastructure development, with a strong focus on providing relief to low and middle-income groups. Officials describe the upcoming budget as “people-friendly” and aligned with the government’s broader agenda of inclusive economic growth.
Further details are expected to be announced ahead of the official budget session in the coming weeks.
