LAHORE: The Punjab Food Department has reaffirmed that flour supplies remain ample and uninterrupted across the province, including Lahore and Rawalpindi, with the availability of both 10kg and 20kg flour bags exceeding current market demand.
According to the department’s spokesperson, daily field monitoring and close coordination with flour mills are ensuring a steady and uninterrupted supply of flour in the open market. On July 20, more than 600,000 10kg flour bags were supplied across Punjab, including 149,033 bags in Lahore and 119,544 bags in Rawalpindi.
The spokesperson said the Punjab government is providing a Rs20 billion subsidy to help stabilize flour prices by supplying wheat to flour mills at Rs3,800 per 40kg.
Under the government-notified rates, a 10kg flour bag is being sold for Rs1,100, while a 20kg bag is available for Rs2,200.
The department noted that although current market demand for flour is relatively low, supplies remain sufficient and continuous throughout the province. It also rejected reports of any shortage of 10kg and 20kg flour bags, stating that daily monitoring confirms there is no disruption in availability.
The spokesperson added that the Punjab government, in collaboration with flour mills, remains committed to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of quality flour at officially notified prices while continuing measures to protect consumers and maintain price stability across the province.
