ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan kept domestic fuel prices artificially low despite rising international oil prices, pushing Pakistan to the brink of default.
Speaking to the media, Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan has been upgraded again after 12 years, while during PTI’s four years in power, the country was pushed toward bankruptcy.
He said the successful vote of no-confidence saved Pakistan from default, and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s decisions have brought about an economic turnaround now recognized internationally.
The minister added that when international oil prices rise, the government is also compelled to raise domestic prices, and current global prices can be checked on Google. He claimed that the PTI founder had kept oil prices artificially low despite the upward trend, driving the country toward bankruptcy.
