Pakistan seized control of the first Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on day two, following an impressive bowling display and a solid batting response. Mohammad Ali led the attack with four wickets, playing a key role in dismissing West Indies for 311. Khurram Shahzad removed Kavem Hodge for 84, while Mohammad Abbas had captain Roston Chase caught behind. Shamar Joseph then counter-attacked with a six and four boundaries to push the total past 300, before Ali struck twice after lunch, removing Joseph, Shai Hope and Jayden Seales to wrap up the innings.
In reply, Pakistan lost Aizaz Awais early, bowled by Kemar Roach without scoring, but Imam-ul-Haq and Shan Masood steadied the innings with a 155-run partnership. Imam brought up his half-century off 46 balls before falling to Joseph, while captain Babar Azam was dismissed for 23. Masood remained unbeaten on 88 at stumps, batting alongside Agha Salman. Pakistan closed the day on 199 for 3, still trailing West Indies’ first-innings total by 112 runs.
